Evaluation

I think my magazine front cover and contents page were quite successful. I believe that my front cover looks better than my contents page, but I think that is because I has had more practise doing magazine front covers as I did it in one of my Art units last year. I also enjoyed making the front cover a lot more than making the contents page. The College magazine I made is very girlie but I tried to make it more appealing to both genders by putting blue into the colour scheme, but unfortunately I still cannot imagine any boy wanting to but it.

I really enjoyed learning how to use InDesign but in the end I stuck with using PhotoShop because it was available to me at home, I also found that I could do the same things when using it. I learnt many different things, like how to use InDesign but I learnt more on Photoshop, for example being able to get the persons head in front of the masthead, I also used this Technique in my Contents page.

If I were to do this process again I would try and make my contents page look a lot better, something that I would expect to see when I have bought a magazine and with my final contents page I don't believe it is up to that standard. I really struggle with the contents page, maybe if I spent more time on it, it would have looked better. I am a lot more happier with my front page, but if I were to do it again I would think of better cover lines as the ones I have aren't that good.

Contents Page Mock Ups

Analysis of Contents Page 2

The layout of this contents page is very clean and neat. The colour scheme is very simple but effective making the contrasting coloured images on the right of the page stand out to the reader more.
There is no centre focus of the contents page, I believe the main focus is the right of the page where it uses the buzz word “ALSO in this issue” making it look to the reader that there is extra important things to look at in this magazine.
The index/contents page is very easy to locate and read. It is very clearly shown on the left side of the page with subheadings making it really easy for the reader to digest. The white background outlined with the black I think is really nice and sharp. The colour scheme of black, white and red works really well, the font of the contents page is very graffiti like therefore appealing more to the scruffy teenager.

Analysis of Contents page 1

The picture of the two girls show who this magazine is targeted to.
The layout of this contents page is very busy and colourful. The colours are definitely more girly colours but still not overdoing it on the pink so therefore the magazine is targeting a more mature girl as their audience.
The main focus on this contents page is bright boxes the stand out against the background of the blue with numbers 1 to 6 on them.
There are no buzz words on thus magazine, but I don’t think they really need them because the information within this magazine is something that students at a college need to get more information about applying to university.
This contents page is really easy to read and understand. It takes you through all the stages you need to go through in the magazine making it very clear to the reader.
There are six clear subheadings and then a paragraph under each of them explaining what they are.
To make this magazine even more appealing they offer a free charm if you achieve something good in your work. So this magazine is really good at it encourages hard work.
